Creating or merging disk drives
partitions are very easy in windows 7 and 8 Operating system computer.
Here I will demonstrate how to do
this in stepwise and easy manner:
Creating a Partition
- Rt Click your My Computer.
- Select Manage.
- Then a window appears. Now inside Storage Section Select Disk Management.
- Now all the partitions in your hard drive will be shown.
- Select and Rt. Click the drive you want create a partition from.
- Select the Shrink Volume option.
- Then your computer starts Querying about the available space for creating partition. Wait till then.
- Then a window appears and shows the maximum value of space that can be partitioned. Select as you require and Click Shrink.
- Finally, you will see a blank or unallocated space available in the disk section.
- Select the unallocated space and Rt. Click it and Select New Simple Volume.
- Click Next, Next.
- Assign a volume label to your partition eg. G or H etc
- Click Next and Select Format this volume level and again Next.
- Finally, select finish.

Your hard disk should be partitioned now.
Removing a Partition or
Merging Two partition
Note: Before you merging two
partitions be careful to notice that there are no files in the drive you want
to remove as the drive will be formatted and every material will be removed.
Here are the steps to remove or
merge partitions:
- Rt. Click the partition you want to remove or merge with another drive and Select Delete Volume option.
- Then the partition will be shown as unallocated space.
- Now, select the drive you want the volume or unallocated space to merge with.
- Select the Extend Volume option from there and Click next and ok.
Finally your
partitions will be merged.
